The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) announced in a statement yesterday that Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) candidate Renita Huang Rongrong has garnered the 2026-2027 Great Wine Capitals (GWC) International Research Grant, which will provide funding for her research execution and final presentation at its annual conference.
The statement pointed out that Huang is one of two global recipients this academic year and was jointly mentored by Newcastle University’s Prof. Marianna Sigala, and DBA supervisor, UTM Prof. Eve Ren Lianping.
The statement said that the Great Wine Capitals Global Network is an international association uniting world-renowned wine-producing regions, including Adelaide (Australia), Bordeaux (France), Florence (Italy) and Napa Valley (USA) with the grant annually presented to “foster cutting-edge research that bridges theoretical excellence with practical solutions for the global wine and tourism industries”.
The selection committee praised Huang’s proposal for its “exceptional originality, methodological rigour, and strategic alignment with the network’s global priorities”.
The funded project studies changing market dynamics among Chinese outbound wine tourists visiting GWC destinations, analysing who these consumers are and their behavioural shifts, the statement added.
The public university also congratulated Huang in the statement for her achievement.
