The local session of the 7th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Award Ceremony was held at the public University of Macau (UM) yesterday, with nine young local entrepreneurs among the 95 award recipients.
Organised by the Guangdong-HK-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Alliance, the award ceremony simultaneously took place in Macau and Hong Kong, attracting more than 400,000 people both in person and online, including government officials and representatives from chambers of commerce and associations across the Greater Bay Area (GBA), according to a UM statement yesterday.
UM Vice Rector Claudia Xu Juian and Interim Director of the Institute of Collaborative Innovation Elaine Leung Lai Han attended the local session.
The nine Macau awardees were selected through a process involving independent assessments by academic institutions and experts, the statement said, adding that two are UM alumni: Wong Ngai Man, CEO of Batilo Group Limited, who received the Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Award, and Gao Ming, general manager of Boss Translation Company Limited, who received the Best Entrepreneurship Award.
Speaking to the media after receiving the award, Gao said that the recognition represented an acknowledgement of his creativity, identity, family and company after more than 10 years of development.
He noted that his company is continuing to expand and sees opportunities arising from the development of the local government’s “1+4” industries. Gao added that he hopes to invest more resources into the company’s development and explore opportunities in the larger market. He also said that the business would first assess the market and operating environment before considering further expansion, adding that a suitable environment would provide a sound basis for taking the next step in the company’s development.
