A taxi and a motorcycle collided on Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Sai Van, heading towards Sai Van Bridge, at roughly 5:00 p.m. yesterday, leaving the motorcyclist injured, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman said.
According to the spokeswoman, the taxi was travelling in the right-hand lane when its driver, a local man in his 60s, attempted to pull into the left-hand lane. The nearside of the taxi subsequently struck the motorcycle.
The rider, a local man in his 70s, sustained multiple injuries and was admitted to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for medical treatment.
Both passed roadside breathalyser tests, the spokeswoman added.
The cabbie was subsequently summonsed for careless overtaking.
