Aiming to enhance food safety awareness and operational standards within the food sector, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has launched its systematic food safety training courses for active industry practitioners on the last Thursday of every month.

Enrolment is now open for August’s “Basic Course on Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene” through Friday, according to an IAM statement yesterday.

The two-hour course will be held next Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Iao Hon Municipal Market. The course is free of charge, and participants who complete it will receive a certificate, the statement added.

The statement noted that the course content includes the local food safety law and its standard guidelines, practical food hygiene operations, and personal hygiene. It will also outline effective methods for rodent prevention and control to raise industry awareness of maintaining environmental hygiene and pest control.

Interested practitioners can register on the government’s “Business and Associations Platform”, or complete the application form (https://www.iam.gov.mo/c/pdf/eformDetail/PDF1147), send a fax to 8296 1234, or submit in person during office hours to the Iao Hon Municipal Market or any of the bureau’s public services centres. For enquiries, please call 8296 1242 or 2833 8181 during office hours.
