The Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) government launched an interdepartmental joint operation yesterday to repossess a plot of land and the structures thereon located near Pier No. 6A in the Inner Harbour, along Rua do Dr. Lourenço Pereira Marques (比厘喇馬忌士街內) on the peninsula, according to a Land and Urban Construction Bureau (DSSCU) statement yesterday.
The plot covers an area of 1,128 square meters, the statement noted, adding that the site was previously issued a temporary occupation licence for public water areas which has since expired.
Due to the site remaining occupied after the designated deadline expired, the government executed the joint operation to recover the property and its buildings, which have now been handed over to the relevant departments for management.
Under local maritime area management law No. 7/2018 and related executive dispatches, the boundary between Macau’s land and maritime areas was clearly defined, placing coastal locations along the Inner Harbour under the scope of state-owned land subject to local law No. 10/2013, the statement said.
Given that the land no longer possesses a valid licence, the bureau had previously initiated eviction procedures, the statement added.

This handout photo released by the Lands and Urban Construction Bureau (DSSCU) yesterday shows the illegally occupied plot at Pier No. 6A in the Inner Harbour, along Rua do Dr. Lourenço Pereira Marques (比厘喇馬忌士街內).
