The 17th Chinese Children’s Film Dubbing Contest (Macau section) concluded at Macao Museum near the Ruins of St. Paul’s on Saturday.
Speaking to the Post yesterday, Shelly Cai (蔡依瑩), president of the Macau Parent-Child Toastmasters Club, said the winners in the children’s and junior groups will advance to the national competition in Beijing on August 14.
The contest was organised by the club and the China National Film Museum, in conjunction with the China Film Association and the China Children’s Film Association (CCFA).
Cai said in a speech during the event that in response to Macau’s development strategies and in an effort to promote the professionalisation and sustainable development of the local performing arts sector, the competition focuses on promoting the nation’s outstanding linguistic and cultural heritage. The aim is to enhance young people’s Putonghua expression skills and overall artistic literacy, as well as to inspire the younger generation’s enthusiasm for language arts through diverse forms of vocal performance. She added that, in doing so, the competition seeks to strengthen cultural confidence and unleash creative vitality.
According to a statement released during the contest, the event was divided into two categories – a children’s group and a junior group – attracting a total of 40 participants. Contestants selected excerpts from a designated library of film and television clips for their dubbing presentations. Judges scored each performance independently based on four key dimensions: language control ability, emotional expression, dubbing technique, and overall effect.
