The “2026 Sands Shopping Carnival” concluded its four-day run on Sunday, with its seventh edition garnering a record high of nearly 160,000 visits, according to a statement from the integrated resort operator yesterday.

This brings the total visits across the seven editions to 800,000, the statement said, adding that 4,000 complimentary booths have been provided for local businesses to date, being “highly received among both Macau residents and Greater Bay Area [GBA] visitors”.

This year’s carnival, which ran from Thursday through Sunday, was on an expanded scale, featuring more than 580 booths, according to the statement.

There were also eight themed zones, among which was the new Sports Experience Zone that featured a pickleball area and a basketball shooting challenge with October’s NBA China Games at The Venetian Arena. The statement added that the carnival’s Cultural and Creative Zone meanwhile drew a raft of brands from the GBA for the first time, while this year also saw the event’s largest food court, with 58 popular local eateries featured.

Meanwhile, the ICBC ePay Presents: Greater Bay Area Karaoke King Singing Competition had nearly 150 singers from the GBA, with over half of the applicants from Hong Kong, the statement said.

The cooking activity “BOC Smart Kids Presents: Little Master Chef Workshop” has meanwhile drawn nearly 3,000 participants over the past seven years.

Sands China Executive Vice Chairman Wilfred Wong Ying Wai was quoted by the statement as saying: “Over the years, the event has helped local SMEs expand their business opportunities while providing trainees from social service organisations with a valuable platform to apply their skills, showcase their talents and unleash their potential”.

He added: “By uniting the strength of the business, commercial and social service sectors, the event fully demonstrates Macau’s vibrancy and diversity. We are especially encouraged that the carnival is drawing an increasing number of visitors from across the Greater Bay Area to Macau, further cementing its position as one of the region’s most influential consumer events, attracting 800,000 visits over the past seven years”.
