Power utility CEM said in a statement yesterday that its Ambassadors Team recently visited the Macau Association for Stray Dogs and Animal Welfare (MASDAW), aiming to “bring warmth and support to the animals, while taking practical action to raise public awareness of the welfare of stray animals and promote the concept of ‘adopt, don’t shop’”.

CEM Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office Jaclyn Iun and eight CEM Ambassadors toured MASDAW, which has over 150 dogs and 14 cats, to gain “a deeper understanding of its daily operations and challenges”, the statement noted.

Association volunteers instructed ambassadors on how to interact with the dogs, spoke about rescue stories, and guided dog walks. Moreover, CEM Ambassadors donated specially selected dog food to the association, with the statement noting that this aimed to provide “nutritional support tailored to the health needs of senior dogs”.

Two representatives spoke about their experiences in the statement, with Dorothy Lao from CEM’s Procurement and Logistics Department reflecting on being a dog-walking volunteer, encouraging everyone to volunteer as a dog walker in their spare time as it will benefit both the dog and the volunteer, while Adrian Zhang from CEM’s Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications Office, pointed out the hardships faced by animal welfare groups, highlighting the importance of tangible support through means such as adoption or donations.
