The public Macao University of Tourism (UTM) announced in a statement yesterday that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thailand’s Srinakharinwirot University (SWU)* to strengthen cooperation in academic exchange and talent development.

According to the statement, the agreement was signed last Thursday at UTM’s Mong-Ha Campus, during a visit by a delegation from Srinakharinwirot University. The MoU was signed by Rector Fanny Vong Chun Kwan and Associate Professor Cholvit Jearajit, president of SWU, on behalf of their respective institutions, the statement said.

Under the agreement, the two universities will collaborate on a range of initiatives, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and broader academic cooperation, the statement noted, adding that the partnership aims to facilitate the sharing of educational resources and promote mutual academic development.

Srinakharinwirot University, a public autonomous university in Bangkok, offers programmes across multiple disciplines, including hospitality and tourism, business administration, education, and engineering, the statement highlighted.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vong said the agreement represents a step forward in the university’s efforts to expand international partnerships, particularly in Southeast Asia, adding that the collaboration would provide broader opportunities for students and faculty while strengthening links between tourism and cultural education in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Thailand, the statement noted.

Vong expressed hope that the partnership would enhance cooperation in talent cultivation as well as teaching and research innovation, helping to nurture professionals with global perspectives, the statement added.

Following the signing ceremony, the visiting delegation toured campus facilities and expressed appreciation of the university’s educational approach and achievements, as well as confidence in the future collaboration, according to the statement.
