The total number of patients discharged by Kiang Wu Hospital reached 28,800 last year, when 1.401 million outpatient and emergency visits were recorded by the private hospital, while the overall service volume saw a year-on-year decrease due to various factors, Kiang Wu Hospital President Li Pengbin announced in a speech during the facility’s 2025 annual work summary and 2026 work outlook presentation yesterday.

At the end of the third quarter of last year, according to the latest available official demographics, Macau’s population stood at 686,600.

The announcement was made at the hospital’s Multipurpose Building yesterday.

Lei noted that his hospital launched a total of 29 new technologies, projects, and services last year, including the launch of its “Brain Health Programme” and the establishment of a cognitive rehabilitation training centre, as well as the opening of a postpartum confinement* centre.

Furthermore, significant progress has been made in the development of a Pain-Free Hospital (PFH) programme with services in the hospital such as painless endoscopy test and labour analgesia** notably enhancing the patient experience, with the rate of labour analgesia exceeding 70 percent, Lei said, adding that the “Jinghutong” (“Kiang Wu Connect”) app has optimised patient registration and payment processes, improving service efficiency and convenience.

Meanwhile, the hospital achieved multiple breakthroughs across various specialist fields, such as the successful implementation of Macau’s first CAR-T cell therapy*** and third-generation In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) technology, Lei said.

Additionally, six innovative drugs not yet available in the Chinese mainland were introduced in the hospital last year, Lei said, adding that his hospital continues to consolidate and develop specialised centres for interventional vascular diagnosis and treatment, minimally invasive surgery, endoscopy, oncology, rehabilitation, assisted reproduction, and dentistry; the hospital is also deepening the integration of Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to build a medical service system centred on “safety, quality, technology, and branding,” aiming to provide high-quality healthcare services to the public.
