The 2026 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum & Exhibition (MIECF) will be held from March 26 to 28 at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo, themed “Low-carbon, Zero Waste Cities: Embarking on a Global Collaboration”, according to a statement by the organiser yesterday.

Hosted by the local government, the annual event will gather local, national and foreign exhibitors and professionals in order to strengthen regional and international exchanges on environmental protection and green development, the statement said.

Certified by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), MIECF aims to further enhance its role as a green platform connecting enterprises, researchers and investors, while promoting the commercialisation of environmental innovation, the statement added.

The statement cited feedback from past participants, including a Portuguese textile technology centre which joined the exhibition for the first time last year, saying Macau’s advantage lies in its concentration of industry, academia and research resources, helping accelerate project development and institutional collaboration.

Meanwhile, the statement added that a Malaysian environmental organisation, which has participated in five editions of MIECF, said the event “not only enhanced its visibility and expanded its membership network, but has also facilitated the launch of environmental cooperation projects in Malaysia”.

In addition, a local company specialising in recycled eco-friendly materials said it secured tentative orders worth over 10 million yuan (11.6 million patacas) through partnerships formed during MIECF, while other enterprises highlighted Macau’s platform role in connecting China with Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs), the statement said.

The event is co-organised by Pan-Pearl River Delta region governments, co-ordinated by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA), aiming to support Macau’s economic diversification strategy through green development and global environmental cooperation.
