Macau Light Rapid Transit Corporation Limited (LRT) said in a statement yesterday that it will roll out a series of festive activities for the Chinese New Year (CNY), including a themed train service and a celebratory event at Barra Station this Saturday.
The statement noted that it will hold an event titled “Light Rail Brings Prosperity to Barra for the New Year of 2026” at the LRT Barra Station this Saturday.
The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the station’s Exit A, the statement said. During the event, free CNY couplets and red envelopes will be given out, while visitors can also take part in interactive activities such as self-service printing of red envelopes, according to the statement.
The statement added that several calligraphy enthusiasts will be invited to write festive couplets on-site, and participants will also be able to try writing their own couplets.
The event will also feature colouring and drawing activities, as well as a selection of New Year-themed stamps designed for families and children to create festive crafts together, the statement noted, adding that two guided tours of Barra Station will also be held on the same day, with members of the public able to check details and register through the company’s website at https://www.mlm.com.mo/.
Moreover, the Taipa Line will introduce a CNY-themed train starting this Saturday, featuring festive decorations inside and outside the carriages, the statement said, adding that a “mystery” themed train will be introduced during the holiday period.
Meanwhile, LRT mascot “Heng Chai” will also appear at stations during the holiday period to greet passengers, interact with the public and distribute small gifts, according to the statement.
