The 280th Distinguished Artist Lecture “Architecture for Humanity” and “Innovative Offsite Systems for Architecture” are slated to be held on Thursday at the private Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).

The upcoming three-hour lecture, organised by MUST’s Faculty of Humanities and Arts and CAC – Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura de Macau (Circle of the Friends of Macau’s Culture), will feature Politecnico di Milano professor and researcher Marco Imperadori, whose work centres on high-energy efficiency buildings, Structure/Envelope construction systems, and sustainability, as keynote speaker.

In a CAC statement provided on Saturday, it was noted that Imperadori is the Rector’s delegate for the Far East and represents Politecnico di Milano (Polimi) in Asia. He has published research on architectural innovation, sustainability, and energy conservation, according to the statement.

He has lectured globally and was visiting professor at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in Macau from 2015 to 2023, the statement said.

The upcoming lecture will be divided into two parts. According to the statement, the first will feature experiences by Imperadori and his team “VeluxLab” at the Department of Architecture, Built Environment, and Construction Engineering Department of Politecnico di Milano University, which is “dedicated to very difficult situations of post disaster, emergency or situation of difficulty for social or economic reasons”.

The second part of the lecture, meanwhile, will present innovative systems that Imperadori has designed with various companies that have “created industrial follow up”, with prototypes used for social or cultural public purposes in different sites also to be presented.

The lecture will be held at Room 214, Block N, from 3:30 p.m. through 6:30 p.m. One can participate by registering online at https://forms.gle/zXHiJ4CLHP8FTp48A. One can also find more details by visiting CAC’s Facebook page on https://www.facebook.com/CACMacau/
