Zhuhai’s immigration inspection uploaded a video clip on its WeChat official account on Wednesday that shows its officers arresting a mainland woman for illegal border crossing en route to Macau recently.
According to the video clip, the woman dressed in white, lacking valid entry or exit documents, followed other travellers into the e-channel to evade border inspection.
She was apprehended by Gongbei border checkpoint officers, according to the video clip.
Three days later, she once again tailgated other travellers into the channel, crouching down to use the person in front as a shield to block the officers’ line of sight, trying to slip through undetected she was ultimately intercepted.
The woman said in the video that she wanted to “stroll around” Macau but had “left her travel permit at home.” After being intercepted, she attempted to leave by saying, “I’ll just go back,” to which the immigration officer responded, “You can’t go back now; come with me,” taking her away for investigation.
Later, the woman was placed under criminal investigation by the Ministry of Public Security on suspicion of committing the offence of illegally crossing the border.
