Integrated resort operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) held both the 14th YAP Award Presentation and the 15th YAP Launching Ceremony of the GEG Youth Achievement Program (YAP) at the Galaxy International Convention Centre (GICC) in Cotai last night, celebrating the achievements of the participants of the programme’s previous edition while also launching the newest edition.
The programme, which has been co-organised with the Macau Management Association (MMA) since 2011, features a raft of activities and training opportunities for participants aged between 18 and 29. To date, over 3,600 participants have joined the programme.
The 14th edition centred on “Empowering Technology, Creating Value,” featuring lectures and workshops on green technology and AI. Outstanding participants, including the winning group of the programme’s final competition, were recognised, with prizes distributed last night.
The 15th edition will be themed “Cultural Heritage, Careers Set Sail”, with workshops on Macau’s intangible cultural heritage, cultural seminars, art exhibitions, and study tours set to be among the activities to be held, according to a statement provided by GEG yesterday.
Delivering a speech at yesterday’s ceremony, GEG Director Philip Cheng Yee Sing said: “GEG has always attached great importance to nurturing talent. Over the years, we have worked closely with MMA to build YAP into a dynamic platform that brings together diverse elements of learning and exchange. Looking ahead, GEG will continue to support young people to ‘Reach Out, Reach Beyond’, pushing past their limits and achieving excellence”.
MMA Council Chairman Tommy Lau Veng Seng said in his speech: “MMA is committed to advancing the holistic development of local youth. Together with GEG, which shares our vision, we have co-organised YAP for many years, providing solid and diverse activities and training to help participants grow academically, professionally, and socially.”
Other guests attending yesterday’s event were Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR Sun Yaohua, and Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) Director Chan Un Tong, along with representatives from local government entities and GEG.
15th National Games Gold medallist in the Male Amateur Team Kata and two-time member of “Galaxy Entertainment Group Presents: We Are Macau Athletes” was also present at the event for a section talking about his story.
