The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement yesterday that it is rolling out a special offer today, giving international visitors free direct coach tickets from Hong Kong International Airport to Macau, in order to expand foreign visitor markets and promote extended travel to Macau.
According to the statement, MGTO has partnered with Hong Kong & Macao International Airport Transportation Service Company Limited (Macau HK Airport Direct) to launch the year-long offer, which runs from today through the end of this year.
The initiative targets international visitors arriving in Hong Kong by air from destinations other than those in the Chinese mainland and China’s Taiwan region aims to strengthen Hong Kong–Macau twin-destination and multi-destination tourism, the statement noted.
The statement said that eligible visitors arriving at Hong Kong International Airport can complete the required procedures at designated counters within the restricted area to obtain a free one-way coach ticket, adding that the service provides direct transfers from the SkyPier Terminal to Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) checkpoint.
According to the statement, the initiative is designed to stimulate foreign visitors’ interest in visiting Macau, diversify visitor sources and support the city’s tourism recovery and growth.
In order to maximise exposure, MGTO and the Hong Kong-Macao coach service operator will promote the offer through online and offline channels, including social media, as well as in collaboration with airlines and travel agencies in different markets, the statement said.
The promotion will be aligned with Macau’s year-round calendar of events and overseas promotions, aiming to encourage visitors to experience the city’s latest “tourism +” attractions and facilities, extend their length of stay and increase spending, MGTO said.
Foreign visitors may make advance bookings through the service operator’s official website (https://www.macauhkairportbus.com/) and enjoy free coach tickets an unlimited number of times during the promotion period, subject to terms, conditions and seat availability, the statement noted, adding that free tickets will only be available within a limited quota.
The statement did not elaborate on the quota.
