The National Basketball Association (NBA) China announced in a statement yesterday that the United States’ Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets will play two NBA China Games 2026 preseason matches in Cotai this coming October, following the success of last year’s event.
According to the statement, the NBA China Games 2026 will see the Mavericks and Rockets face off on October 9 and 11 at the Venetian Arena in The Venetian Macao integrated resort.
Beyond the two games, the programme will include the NBA House, NBA Fan Day, youth basketball clinics, and a Community Impact Week jointly hosted by NBA Cares and Sands Cares, aiming to focus on health, wellness and sustainability, the statement said.
NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum was quoted in the statement as saying that “the games in Macau earlier this season showed how much passion and enthusiasm there is for the NBA among fans in China and across Asia.” He added that the league looked forward to once again engaging fans and the local community through the games and related activities.
Sands China President and Chief Executive Officer Grant Chum Kwan Lock said in the statement that they were “confident and ready to welcome the teams, players, legends and fans from around the world to Macau for another amazing NBA week”.
Meanwhile, Dallas Mavericks Governor and Las Vegas Sands President and Chief Operating Officer Patrick Dumont was quoted in the statement as saying that “it is a tremendous honour for Sands to host the games at The Venetian Arena next fall.”
Dumont and Tatum attended last year’s NBA event.
According to the statement, details on ticket sales and related fan and community events will be announced later, adding that the games will be broadcast to fans in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
