Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) Vice-President Cheang Kai Meng told reporters during yesterday’s blessing ceremony that tonight’s countdown concert in Sai Van Lake Plaza was expected to attract a crowd of around 10,000, featuring Hong Kong singer Panther Chan Lei (陳蕾) and rock band Dear Jane as the finale performers, as well as local artistes Soler, Filipe Tou (杜俊瑋), KC Ao Ieong, and winifai (林靜翬),
Cheang pointed out that, if necessary, police will manage additional spectators outside the perimeter.
Cheang made remarks yesterday during a blessing ceremony in Sai Van Lake Plaza for the two New Year’s Eve Countdown Concerts 2025, to be held at the Taipa Houses Complex and Sai Van Lake Plaza, respectively.
Cheang noted that the Macau Countdown Show’s gate will open around 8 p.m., while the countdown performances will start at 10 p.m. and end at 12:10 a.m. on New Year’s Day. All attendees must pass through security checks; large items, glass bottles, and beverage cans are prohibited. No storage services will be provided on-site, Cheang said.
Cheang added that the cost of the countdown event in Sai Van Lake Plaza is coordinated and shared by Macau’s six integrated resort operators, and the government will also bear part of the cost, while Taipa’s concert, budgeted at 960,000 patacas, will be borne by his bureau.
Cheang did not reveal the total budget for all the countdown activities. Notably, there will be no firework display this year, replaced by “simple” stage effects, Cheang said.
Meanwhile, the “2025 Taipa Countdown Show” will take place at the Taipa Houses Complex, from 9 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. focusing on multicultural integration. The Taipa countdown features Hong Kong singer Karen Tong Po-yu (湯寶如) as the finale act, alongside performances by local groups FIDA, Tuna Macaense, Bossa Eva and João Gomes & Band, according to an IC statement released on Monday.
Special traffic arrangements will be implemented in the area around the Taipa Houses Complex from 8 p.m. today to 1 a.m. tomorrow, the statement said, adding that both countdown events are free to enter.
