The University of Macau (UM) announced in a statement yesterday that it marked the fifth anniversary of its Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) Programme with a three-day study tour between December 12 and 14 to
Guangzhou’s Nansha District, combining academic exchange, field studies and alumni engagement.
Organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), the study tour brought together faculty members and DPA students to examine governance practices and policy implementation in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), the statement said.
The delegation, led by FSS Dean Richard Hu Weixing and DPA Programme Director Wen Bo, visited the Nansha Planning Exhibition Hall and the Comprehensive Service Base for Chinese Enterprises “Going Global”, where participants explored the government’s role in regional development and public service support, the statement said, adding that the programme also focused on talent governance and sustainability.
At the Nansha International Talent Port, participants discussed innovative talent policies and public sector human resource models, the statement said, while visits to the Greater Bay Area Mazu Cultural Exchange Centre, Henry Fok Memorial Hall and the Central Wetland Park prompted exchanges on cultural governance, social responsibility and cross-regional ecological conservation.
Academic exchanges were held at Sun Yat-sen University’s School of Government, alongside a visit to the National Supercomputing Centre in Guangzhou, aiming to highlight the public sector’s role in fostering research and innovation, the statement added.
The statement noted that a commemorative dinner held during the tour reflected on the DPA Programme’s development over the past five years.
The public university said in the statement that the study tour strove to underscore its commitment to integrating theory with practice and nurturing public administration professionals equipped to contribute to society.
