The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) announced in a statement yesterday that it will stage two free countdown events tomorrow night in Sai Van Lake Plaza and the Taipa Houses, aiming to bring residents and tourists together to welcome 2026 with live music and multicultural performances.

The “2025 Macau Countdown Concert” will run tomorrow from 10 p.m. through 12:10 a.m. on New Year’s Day in Sai Van Lake Plaza, the statement said.

The statement noted that Hong Kong artistes, singer Panther Chan Lei and rock band Dear Jane, will headline the event, slated to perform their signature songs and appearing together on stage during the countdown.

Local musicians will also take part, including Soler, Filipe Tou (杜俊瑋), KC Ao Ieong, and winifai (林靜翬), aiming to present a wide range of musical styles, the statement said. The stage design will incorporate electronic screens, lighting and visual effects, with each performance session structured in a narrative format to convey good wishes for the coming year.

However, the statement added that no fireworks display will be included during the countdown.

The concert is jointly organised by the bureau and integrated resort operators MGM, Wynn Resorts Macau, Sands China Ltd, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, SJM Resorts, S.A. and Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), with the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IC) and TDM as co-organisers.

Meanwhile, the “2025 Taipa Countdown Show” will take place at the Taipa Houses, from 9 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. focusing on multicultural integration. Hong Kong singer Karen Tong Po Yu will close the show, alongside performances by local groups FIDA, Tuna Macaense, Bossa Eva and João Gomes & Band, the statement noted.

Cultural programmes will include music and dance by Victor Kumar with the Bollywood Dreams Group, the Art Group of the Bisdak Association of Macao*, the Myanmar Art Dance Team and the Vietnamese Traditional Dance Group of Macao, as well as a magic performance by Jason Fong.

According to the bureau, from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., cultural booths will showcase traditional costumes, provide tourist information and snacks from Macau’s Indian, Myanmar, Philippine and Vietnamese communities, striving to highlight Macau’s multicultural lifestyle.

Admission to both countdown events is free. The bureau reminded the public that security checks will be in place and there are no storage facilities on site, and road closures and traffic arrangements will be announced separately.
