The Sands China Asian Youth Elite Fencing League – Macao competition will take place at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo from December 26 to 28, featuring new categories and 1,200 youth fencers from around the world, according to a joint statement by co-organisers Sands China in conjunction with Asia Sports Development Ltd.

This year’s free-admission event will feature new categories including individual events for the U6 age group and team events for the U8 and U12 age groups, the statement noted, while athletes will include those from the Chinese mainland, Macau, Hong Kong and China’s Taiwan region, as well as Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the UK and the US.

The Asian Youth Elite Fencing League aims to “develop the league into an Asian youth fencing ranking circuit, advancing sports development among young people in the Greater Bay Area while promoting the heritage of fencing”, the statement said. The competition will be held on FIE (International Fencing Federation)-certified international-standard pistes (the designated playing strip for a fencing match), with FIE referees while video refereeing systems will be used in the elimination rounds.

There will also be free-admission extended activities scheduled including the “Sands Cares Presents: Community Sharing by Champion Fencers – Lei Sheng & Deng Xiaohao” on December 27 featuring the two gold medallists, and the “ASD Elite Karate League” from December 26-28. There will also be 60 food and sports booths set up, the statement noted.

Moreover, the “2025 Sands China Future Champions Fencing Camp” will be hosted from December 21 through Christmas, with those featured to train young fencers aged 9-20 being five-time Olympic gold medal winning coaches Stefano Cerioni and Giovanni Bortolaso in foil, Paris Olympics silver medallist Yoon Jisu, London Olympics gold medallist Oh Eun Seok, and Dong-Eui University Fencing Team Head Coach Han Won Lee.
