The Public Security Police (PSP) apprehended a local man on Wednesday for drunk driving, with his blood alcohol concentration standing at 2.05 grams per litre, PSP spokeswoman Kong Chi Ian said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 1.2 grams or above per litre is considered drunk driving, according to the Road Traffic Law.
Kong identified the suspect as a male surnamed Lei who is in his fifties and works as a senior supervisor in a casino.
According to Kong, the Public Security Police (PSP) received a report on Wednesday at around 11 p.m. from a citizen about a traffic accident in Avenida Son On (信安馬路) in Taipa. The citizen said that while working at the bus depot on Avenida Son On (信安馬路), he heard a collision outside, and upon checking, he discovered that a car had crashed into the rear of a bus parked on the roadside.
Upon arrival, police officers found Lei reeking of alcohol, and a breathalyser test confirmed his blood alcohol concentration at 2.05 grams per litre, indicating a drunk-driving offence. Under questioning, Lei admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages in Taipa before driving.
Lei has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a charge for drunk driving.
