Public broadcaster TDM hosted a forum called “Integrated News Production and Transmission” at its Macau Forum studio in Zape yesterday, bringing together media representatives from Macau and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) to discuss industry development, cross-cultural communication, and the shift towards digitalisation.

The forum was moderated by TDM Portuguese News and Programmes Director Gilberto Lopes. Representatives from the PSCs’ public broadcasters – João Nuno Nogueira from Portugal’s RTP, Amândio Caweie Cafuanda from Angola’s TPA, Adulai Demba Baldé from Guinea-Bissau’s TGB, and Horácio Afonso Fátima Babo from Timor-Leste’s RTTL, as well as Grace Lao (劉婧), controller of TDM’s Chinese News and Information Programmes Division, joined the discussion on stage, which centred on how PSCs adapt to emerging formats in integrated media.

In her opening remarks, TDM Chairperson Lorman Lo Song Man said that “Macau is a bridge that links China with Portuguese-speaking countries,” adding that the broadcaster has worked in the media field for 41 years and has actively contributed to cultural exchange.

Lo said that integrated media development has become an inevitable trend under global digitalisation. She highlighted the need to maintain accuracy while adopting new tools, and said the one-day forum allowed participants to explore news planning, content creation and technology use. “Media is a messenger of civilisation,” she added, saying that TDM aims to deepen cooperation through integrated media and expand cultural ties.

The forum’s objective was to strengthen exchanges between Macau and Portuguese-speaking broadcasters, laying the groundwork for broader collaboration in integrated media as the sector continues to adapt to digital transformation, according to a TDM statement yesterday.
