Concerning the matter of a rise in civil servants’ salaries, a report from the Commission for the Evaluation of Public Service Workers’ Salaries, after the matter was discussed by its members, has been submitted to the executive, the local government said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, which was released through the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS), the local government “agrees that it is necessary to prudently consider the adjustment of civil servants’ salaries”.

The statement added that “at this moment, despite the government’s financial situation being stable, the overall economic outlook remains uncertain, and recovery is slow in some sectors.

“Considering that civil servants’ salaries were already increased by 3.0 percent at the beginning of 2024 and that the average inflation rate was only 0.24 percent in the 12 months from October 2024 to September 2025, and taking into account that increasing civil servants’ salaries will permanently raise government expenses, the decision must be considered with increased caution.

“In this context, after a comprehensive analysis, the government of the Macau government has decided not to adjust the salaries of public service workers in 2026”, the statement concluded.
