Striving to advance the development of Macau as a “City of Performing Arts”, strengthen the cultivation of performing arts talents and provide comprehensive support for the trainees’ career development such as internships, the “Young Performing Artists Talents Training Programme” is open for application until December 10, according to yesterday’s press conference.

The press conference for the “Young Performing Artists Talents Training Programme” was held at the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) in Nape, co-hosted by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and mainland-based comedy production company Mahua FunAge*, in conjunction with the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSDEJ).

IC President Deland Leong Wai Man said in a speech that the programme has adopted an all-in-one “Training-Performance-Contract” model, providing comprehensive support for the trainees’  career development.

According to an IC statement, the programme consists of two stages – the experienced Mahua FunAge instructors conducting both the “Basic Performance Class” and the “Core Performance Class” will talk about their experiences and techniques, covering areas such as comedic performance, character building, script analysis, and stage rhythm.

After the two stages, the trainees will have the opportunity to take part in events like the Macau International Comedy Festival, performing on the stage in Macau, Hengqin and elsewhere in the Chinese mainland to gain practical experience, the statement said, adding that outstanding trainees may receive internship offers from Mahua FunAge, and top performers could potentially be signed up as professional artists, participating in mainland tours and film and television productions.

The statement noted that residents aged 18 or above, and non-local students enrolled in local universities can submit their applications via the “Macao One Account” APP or in person at the Macao Conservatory School.

The statement said that the first stage, the “Basic Performance Class” will commence on January 3 next year, spanning four days with a total of 24 instruction hours, with a fee of 1,000 patacas.

The second stage, the “Core Performance Class” will run from January 17 to April 26 next year, comprising approximately 144 hours, with a fee of 5,000 patacas. Trainees who complete either stage of the course and fulfil the necessary conditions will be eligible for a full refund of the tuition fee for that stage, the statement said.
