Two male security guards from the Chinese mainland were arrested on Thursday for robbing a local man of a voice recorder and 500 patacas in cash, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Cheong Un Hong said during a regular press conference on Friday.

Cheong identified the suspects as a 38-year-old male surnamed Yao, and a 44-year-old male surnamed Luo.

According to Cheong, the victim had previously had a dispute with both Yao and Luo during work. On October 23, at around 7 a.m., he bumped into them on a street in Zape, leading to another dispute. During the altercation, the victim used his voice recorder to document the argument. Luo then pushed him down, punching and kicking him, while Yao took the opportunity to steal the voice recorder and 500 patacas in cash from the victim. After managing to escape, the victim immediately reported the case to the police. Cheong added that the victim sustained multiple injuries and suffered a total loss of 800 patacas.

The police identified Yao and Luo as the suspects and apprehended the duo in Zape on Thursday. Under questioning, both suspects refused to cooperate.

Both have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), each facing a robbery charge.
