There are still two days left to view Padric Lei’s (李珀豪) solo exhibition entitled “Trends In flux” at the Pavilion of Exhibitions and Artistic Shows for Young People in Praça do Tap Siac (塔石廣場), with the local artist traversing through time and exploring trends through works inspired by pop art.
The youngster is a student at Pui Ching Middle School, according to the pavilion’s website.
Lei gives exhibitiongoers a retrospective of Macau from the 1960s to the present, interpreting pop culture, lifestyles and changes in the city through his acrylic markers, among other mediums. “Though I have never walked through those years, I have become a ‘traveller’ through time, captivated by the beauty deposited in the trends of different eras”, noted Lei in a statement displayed at the venue, where paintings and an installation are displayed, along with videos seeing his works come to life.
Trends, how they change and come back full circle are tackled. Trends are cultural ripples that rise and fade quickly, leaving behind traces: some disappear, while others resurface in a ‘retro’ style, according to the statement, with Lei creating the works to appreciate both the past and present, as well as its stories.
The young artist hopes that exhibitiongoers can travel through time and see how trends have evolved over different periods, hoping to convey reflections as well as spark one’s own, along with evoking memories.
One can admire the works at the free-admission exhibition during its final run until Friday from noon to 8 p.m.
