A competition for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and youth startups to organise a “Made in Macao”* market is now accepting applications, according to a Tuesday statement released by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG).
The competition is co-organised by GEG and the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre (MYEIC) with support from the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM). The statement said applications are open until October 10.
Eligible participants must be Macau-registered SMEs or youth startups with applicants who are Macau residents aged between 18 and 44. Each enterprise can submit one proposal themed around promoting local SMEs and Macau-made products, the statement noted.
The winning proposal will receive a contract worth 200,000 patacas and the opportunity to organise a two-day market in GEG’s back-of-house areas on November 27 and 28. According to the statement, proposals must include plans for 10 to 14 booths and demonstrate consideration for venue layout, stage design, and merchant recruitment.
Evaluations will be based on five criteria: “Creativity & Theme”, “Functionality”, “Execution Quality”, “Sustainability”, and “Ability to Support Local SMEs and Promote the ‘Made in Macao’ Principle.” The statement said the competition aims to enhance participants’ event management competencies and provide a platform for other local SMEs to showcase products.
The competition guidelines and registration form are available via a QR code on the event poster. The statement noted that GEG will continue to launch initiatives to support local SMEs and young entrepreneurs.
*While the statement uses the spelling “Made in Macao”, the spelling shown on the event poster is “Made in Macau”.
