Macau Customs Service officers raided a parallel-trading den in the peninsula’s northern district on Tuesday where they seized 2,500 kilogrammes of frozen chicken feet worth around 65,000 patacas in total, according to Wednesday’s statement.
On Tuesday, the statement said, customs officers caught two local females aged 45- and 36-years-old who ran the den and had hired a number of parallel traders to smuggle frozen chicken feet from Macau to the mainland.
The duo face a fine in compliance with the relevant provisions listed in the External Trade Law, the statement said
Moreover, the statement added, the duo violated Macau’s Food Safety Law as the supposedly frozen chicken feet were stored merely at room temperature, adding that the Macau Customs Service has meanwhile transferred the case to the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) for follow-up action.
