Aiming to further consolidate the local cybersecurity framework and enhance collaboration between Macau, Guangdong and Hong Kong, the 2025 edition of “China Cybersecurity Week (Macau Sub-forum)” was held yesterday.

The one-day forum took place at the Macau Science Centre in Nape and focused on cutting-edge issues in cyber and data security, including personal data protection, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing security, ransomware prevention, and vulnerability management.

Over 400 local key infrastructure operators, related industries and government representatives, experts, as well as scholars from Guangdong and Hong Kong attended. They discussed advanced technologies and valuable insights aimed at strengthening regional security capabilities, according to a statement by the Judiciary Police (PJ).

Judiciary Police (PJ) Acting Director Lai Man Vai noted in his speech that cybersecurity is the lifeline of the digital age, encompassing not only technical protection but also national security, economic development and social stability, adding that since the enactment of “Macau Cybersecurity Law” in 2019, the government has actively built a preventive cybersecurity governance system, advancing the institutionalisation, systematisation, and professionalisation of local cybersecurity efforts.

Lai added that the Judiciary Police will continue to cooperate with Guangdong Province and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) to further strengthen talent exchange and technological innovation among the three regions, vigorously facilitate data flow, and jointly fortify the cybersecurity defence line of the GBA, Lai said.
