The Sports Bureau (ID) co-hosted a press conference yesterday with the General Association of Athletics of Macau about their “2025 National Day and World Walking Day Fun Run” which will be held in the Outer Harbour districts of Zape and Nape on October 1.

The press conference was held at the ID headquarters in Zape.

ID Development Department Chief Chao Kuok Wai said during the press conference that the event aims to celebrate the “75th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People’s Republic of China” on October 1 and World Walking Day on September 29.

Chao said that in order to encourage widespread participation across the community, the event will offer two “National Day Trophies.” One will be awarded to the first athlete to complete the fun run, while the other will be awarded to the organisation with the highest number of finishers. The top 10 male and female participants in the fun run will also receive awards. All participants who complete the entire run will receive an electronic certificate of achievement, Chao said.

According to the announcement, the event will commence at 8:15 a.m. on October 1, with both the starting and finishing points set in Praça Flor de Lótus (“Golden Lotus Square”) in Zape. The route, which is around three kilometres long, is open not only to runners but also walkers. It will pass Kun Iam Statue in Nape. The activity is free of charge and available to all residents, with a participation cap of 18,000 people.

According to an ID statement, anyone interested can register now through the official website. The registration period for the fun run ends at 12 p.m. (midday) on September 24, while registration for the walking event remains open until 12 p.m. (midday) on September 30. Applications will close once all slots are filled, the statement said.

Everyone finishing the run or walk will be given a free bottle of water.

Groups or associations wishing to participate are required to download the registration form from the Sports Bureau website: gooutmall.com/products/2926, complete the necessary information, and submit it via email to DDT@sport.gov.mo
