Macau Customs Service officers raided a parallel-trading den in the peninsula’s northern district on Friday where they seized 3,000 kilogrammes of frozen chicken feet worth around 80,000 patacas in total.

On Friday, according to Saturday’s statement, customs officers caught a 40-year-old local female who ran the den and had hired a number of parallel traders to smuggle frozen chicken feet from Macau to the mainland.

The suspect faces a fine in compliance with the relevant provisions listed in the External Trade Law, the statement said.

Moreover, the statement added, the suspect violated Macau’s Food Safety Law as the supposedly frozen chicken feet were stored merely at room temperature, adding that the Macau Customs Service has meanwhile transferred the case to the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) for follow-up action.

This handout photo released by the Macau Customs Service on Saturday shows bags of chicken feet stored merely at room temperature at a parallel trading den in Macau peninsula’s northern district on Friday.
