Integrated resort (IR) operator Sands China announced in a statement yesterday new benefits for its staff members who are welcoming newborns.
The statement noted that eligible staff can get up to six days of paid Child Care Leave that “can be taken for medical appointments or vaccinations within the first year after childbirth”.
Staff who are expecting or have recently welcomed a newborn can apply for a “Parenthood Support Shift,” which the statement said provides “regular work shifts without rotation and up to 90 consecutive daily one-hour exemptions from work to balance childcare and career”.
The statement quoted Sands China Senior Vice President of Human Resources Paulo Cheong (張國軍) as saying: “As Macau’s largest private employer with over 27,000 employees, Sands China has long supported the Macau SAR government’s family-friendly policies, cultivating a people-orientated corporate culture by providing flexible and diverse workplace measures for team members with family care needs”.
He added that the new initiatives help foster “a compassionate and understanding work environment, enabling our team members to balance career and family responsibilities as they embrace this new chapter in life – while achieving a mutually beneficial situation for both employees and the company.”
Meanwhile, the statement also reaffirmed that women with at least one year of service with the company are eligible for 70 days of paid maternity leave and men can take five consecutive days of paid paternity leave, to be taken within 30 days after the birth of their child.
