The “2025 Cross-Disability Art Invitational Exhibition” (二○二五跨障藝術邀請展), organised by the Macao Populace Mental Health Promotion Association (MPMHPA), opened last week at Chun Chao Tong, Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, and concluded yesterday, which featured more than 140 artworks to promote exchange and inclusion, according to a statement from MPMHPA last week.
Since its first edition in 2017, the exhibition has provided a platform for persons with a disability in Macau to showcase their artistic talents with the support of rehabilitation organisations, social service groups, and cultural and arts associations, according to the information board provided by the association at the venue, adding that during the three years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the association worked tirelessly to ensure the exhibition continued without interruption.
Now in its ninth year, the event presents calligraphy, Chinese painting, Western painting, fluid painting and other works, reflecting the creativity and perseverance of its participants, the message noted. For the 2025 edition, the Futian District Family Resource Centre for Persons in Mental Health Recovery (Shenzhen) had been specially invited to display five works created by individuals in recovery, expanding cross-border exchange, according to the message.
The association emphasised that promoting the participation of people with a disability in arts training is a challenging but vital task, the message noted, adding that the exhibition not only provides new forms of artistic expression and sensory experience, but also fosters motivation, a sense of achievement, and a greater appreciation for inclusion in society.
The message added that MPMHPA expressed gratitude to the Macao Foundation (FM) the funding sponsor, and the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), the venue sponsor, for their support.
