The “2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area–Yangtze River Delta Economic and Trade Co-operation Exchange Conference (Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Industry Session)” was held on Tuesday in Shanghai, bringing together nearly 200 representatives from research institutions and tech companies to deepen regional collaboration, according to Macau’s Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) statement on Wednesday.
Jointly organised by the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, InvestHK of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and IPIM, the exchange conference featured themed presentations and project roadshows, the statement said, as the event showcased the support policies and commercial environments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, while promoting connections between the Yangtze River Delta and Greater Bay Area (GBA) industries.
Level-two Inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce Huang Xin, Assistant Director-General of InvestHK Loretta Lee Shuk-ching, and IPIM Director Larry Leong Wa Fong spoke about the development advantages and investment policies of GBA. The statement said that Leong highlighted Macau’s strong momentum in technology industry policy support, business environment competitiveness, and service economy vitality, noting its role as a China–Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) cooperation platform with strengths in resource aggregation, talent cultivation, capital flow, spatial expansion and international co-operation.
The statement noted that representatives from GBA cities, including Guangzhou and Shenzhen, introduced local policies, industry layouts and support measures for AI and robotics. Eight high-quality projects were presented, strengthening ties between the Yangtze River Delta and the Greater Bay Area in AI and robotics innovation.
As part of the Shanghai visit, IPIM and the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin visited six enterprises in sectors such as financial technology, digital management, and film and entertainment for targeted investment promotion, according to the statement.
The initiative aims to motivate more local enterprises to leverage Hengqin’s preferential policies to establish production bases, research and development centres, or international headquarters, contributing to Macau’s appropriately diversified economic development, the statement concluded.
