The Public Security Police (PSP) apprehended a local man on Saturday for drunk driving, with his blood alcohol concentration standing at 1.83 grams per litre, PSP spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference yesterday.

Wong identified the suspect as a hairstylist surnamed Leong in his fifties.

According to Wong, the Public Security Police (PSP) received a report of a traffic accident in Rua Cidade do Porto (波爾圖街) in Taipa early Saturday morning. A car accidentally struck a local man crossing the zebra crossing while turning into Rua Cidade do Porto, resulting in abrasions on his hands and feet. Upon arrival, the police noticed that Leong was reeking of alcohol. A breathalyser test confirmed his blood alcohol concentration at 1.83 grams per litre, indicating a drunk-driving offence.

Under questioning, Leong admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages in Taipa before driving home.

Leong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a charge of drunk driving.
