The INCLUSION Conference Day was held at the Macau Anglican College (MAC) in Taipa yesterday, offering a “full day of thought leadership, dialogue, and community building focused on neurodiversity, inclusive education, and family-centred care”, according to a statement by the Charity Association of Macau Business Readers yesterday.
The statement said that the event was a “key pillar” of the INCLUSION Conference & Festival, which aims “to position Macau as a regional hub for inclusive innovation and advocacy”.
The statement said that the free-admission event featured keynote presentations and panel discussions, with speakers from Macau, Hong Kong and the mainland. It gathered international experts in autism, clinical psychology, rehabilitation, and public policy, emphasising “the empowerment of individuals with neurodiversity through evidence-based approaches, family support, and community-driven action”.
Aside from guests from local government entities and attendees in the fields of education, social work and sectors supporting individuals with neurodiverse conditions, there were over 100 families from Macau and elsewhere in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Yesterday’s conference also had group sessions and private consultations for parents and caregivers. All of the activities were aimed at “fostering shared learning and emotional support within a safe, inclusive environment”
The conference was organised by the Charity Association of Macau Business Readers and sponsored by Melco Resorts & Entertainment (Melco) and the We Can Dream Together Foundation.
Charity Association of Macau Business Readers Vice President José Carlos Matias was quoted by the statement as saying: “This event was not only about exchanging knowledge, but about empowering families and professionals to build a society that recognises and nurtures neurodiverse talent”.
The conference will continue today at MGM COTAI, this time title-sponsored by integrated resort operator MGM.
