The Macau Toastmasters Club and Colégio Diocesano de São José 5ª concluded their inaugural Youth Leadership Programme with a final competition on June 7.
According to a recent statement from the co-organisers, the eight-month initiative aimed to “develop confident communicators and inspiring leaders” among 21 participating students from F1 to F3 through training in public speaking and teamwork.
The event featured contests in three categories, with Thomas Cheong Hio Hin taking first prize in the International Speech segment. Other winners included Kayden Seng Ka Hang in Table Topics* and Silvia Kam Hio Cheng in Evaluation, while Team Voltage emerged as overall champions in the team-based competition. Overall, the statement said that the recent contest showcased “the transformational impact of Toastmasters training”.
The statement noted that the programme aligns with Macau’s educational goals and helps cultivate “critical thinking, teamwork and leadership excellence.” The club expressed commitment to expanding the programme, stating their aim to engage more schools in building leadership skills among Macau’s youth. The statement concluded that the “achievement” of the programme proves that “every voice matters and has the power to shape Macau’s future”, highlighting the organisers’ vision for youth empowerment through communication skills development.
The statement said that the Macau Toastmasters Club was led by core members Vera Ho, Andrew Lau, and Rosa Lau.
