Yesterday’s Table Tennis Test Competition for the 15th National Games was “a success” and “smooth”, the deputy head of the preparatory office for the upcoming Games, Fu Si Na, told the Post during the test run yesterday.
It was the third test run for the Games.
Fu also said that the ongoing preparations for the other local competition tests continued to be on track.
Aiming to ensure the smooth running of the Games, the two-day Table Tennis Test Competition took place at the Macao East Asian Games Dome in Cotai on Saturday and yesterday.
The Games’ table tennis competition will be held at Galaxy Arena from November 7 to November 20.
The 15th National Games, 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games will be jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau in November and December for first time.
Fu told the Post that the Table Tennis Test Competition’s running was “a success” and “smooth”, completing the test runs for nearly half of the Games’ five events to be held in Macau later this year.
Fu pointed out that the test runs to be held during this coming weekend, i.e., the 3x3 basketball and karate test events, will be held simultaneously, with the aim of testing all the participating entities’ ability to cooperate in holding several competitions simultaneously at different sports venues.
Fu also said that public registration for Macau tickets for the 15th National Games was expected to be launched before they go on sale in August, adding that specific arrangements would be announced subject to circumstances.
Regarding the issue of ticket scalping, Fu emphasised that the 15th National Games tickets should only be purchased through official channels.
Macau will host five of the 15th National Games’ competitions. The five events to be hosted by Macau comprise 3x3 basketball, men’s U18 five-a-side basketball, karate, table tennis, and women’s volleyball in November and December.
