A young non-local man ‘fell’ from a commercial building and died upon impact on Friday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement yesterday.
The Judiciary Police (PJ) received a report from the Public Security Police (PSP) at 11 a.m. on Friday that a young non-local man lying on Calçada de Santo Agostinho (巴掌圍斜巷), was believed to have fallen from a height. The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital after emergency treatment had failed to revive him, according to a PJ statement yesterday.
According to the statement, a passerby reported hearing a loud noise near the scene at 10:45 a.m. on Friday. Upon checking the area, the victim was discovered lying on the ground and the passerby immediately alerted the authorities.
According to a preliminary forensic examination, the body had multiple abrasions and fractures, which were consistent with injuries sustained from falling from a height. And no other suspicious injuries were found.
According to initial investigations, the deceased “fell” from the window sill of a rear staircase of a nearby commercial building.
Body found floating in the sea
A dead body was found floating in the sea on Saturday morning, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) notified the Judiciary Police at 11:52 a.m. on Saturday that a dead female body had been retrieved from sea. The bureau requested PJ officers go to the scene to investigate. The woman was rushed to a hospital and was declared dead.
According to initial investigations, a resident “discovered” that a middle-aged non-local woman had “jumped” into the sea from the Macau-Taipa Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge (informally known as the “old bridge”) at 10:57 p.m. on Saturday. On the same day at 11:10 a.m., a dead body was found floating in the sea near Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-Sen (孫日仙大馬路). The Macau Customs Service retrieved the body and brought it ashore. The deceased was pronounced dead after she had been rushed to the public Conde S. Januário Hospital for emergency treatment.
The statement said that a preliminary examination of the body showed that the deceased had no suspicious criminal injuries.
Elderly man hangs himself in flat
According to a separate statement, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) notified the Judiciary Police (PJ) at 13:05 p.m. on Saturday that an elderly local man had hanged himself in a flat on Avenida do Conselheiro Borja (青洲馬路). The victim was pronounced dead after he had been rushed to the public Conde S. Januário Hospital for emergency treatment. The bureau requested PJ officers go to the scene to investigate.
According to initial investigations, the deceased’s family member accompanied him home and then left. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact him the next day, the family went to the flat at 12:50 p.m. and discovered the man hanging from the balcony, they alerted authorities. The deceased had a record of attempted suicides.
According to a police investigation at the scene, the deceased hanged himself from the balcony by using an electrical cord.
A preliminary forensic examination showed that there was a ligature mark on the man’s neck, but no other injuries were found. The scene showed no sign of struggle or disturbance, the statement pointed out.
The three cases were officially listed as “dead bodies found”, and the exact cause of death will be determined after an official autopsy, the statement said, adding that the cases have been transferred to the PJ Investigation Section for follow-up.
