Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has recently held a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Promotion Fair to raise awareness among students about global sustainability issues and encourage their commitment to the United Nations’ SDGs, according to a statement from the public university released yesterday.

Organised by MPU’s Student Affairs Office, the on-campus event brought together government entities and social service organisations to advocate for ecological progress and sustainable social development.

The statement noted that the fair featured interactive booths designed around the UN’s 17 SDGs. Activities included a health information station promoting well-being, a clothing recycling station encouraging sustainable consumption, and games that integrated sustainability concepts. Students explored these booths while at the same time learning how individual actions can contribute to global goals, the statement noted.

According to the statement, MPU has been actively supporting the SDGs through various initiatives, such as beach clean-ups, eco-hikes, wetland tours, and water resources facility visits. By embedding sustainability into education and campus activities, the statement said, the university aims to foster its cooperation with the government and civil society while nurturing students’ sense of social responsibility.

The fair has contributed to ongoing campus discussions on sustainability, part of the university’s broader engagement with the UN’s development agenda, the statement underlined. Through such efforts, the university hopes to inspire long-term environmental stewardship among students and contribute to global sustainable development.
