The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) said in a statement on Thursday that its Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies (CJT) recently held a symposium entitled “Global Carbon Neutrality Trends and ESG Compliance in the International Gaming Industry”, during which keynote speakers discussed sustainable development within the global climate governance framework.
According to the statement, invited speakers included Macao Finance Technology and Education Development Association Vice President Cicy Shi (施韻) and Special Research Fellow Justin Hu (胡濟源). Representatives from Macau’s six integrated resorts, gaming equipment suppliers, the Macau Emission Exchange, the public university’s faculty and its students were also in attendance.
Both speakers discussed insights on “the relationship between global carbon reduction trends in the tourism and leisure industry, as well as strategies for fostering a green transformation in Macau’s tourism and leisure sector”, the statement said. Among the topics tackled were the historical context of global carbon neutrality and the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues facing Macau’s publicly listed gaming enterprises.
The statement said that CJT Director Wang Changbin noted that the seminar facilitated dialogue between academia and industry, providing valuable insights for the green transition of Macao’s tourism and leisure sector.
