MGM has co-organised a seminar on “Post-COVID-19 Economic Recovery and Development in Macau” with Macau Development Strategy Research Centre for staff members as a preparation for the recovery of the local tourism industry.

The seminar took place at MGM Cotai and was attended by about 200 staff members in which Macau Development Strategy Research Centre Vice President Loi Hoi Ngan gave insight into how the pandemic affects local and global economies, and shared his views on the potential opportunities for the local tourism industry and how MGM staff members can contribute to the tourism industry’s recovery.

Loi said that while the world is suffering from economic recession due to the pandemic, China’s economy is gradually recovering to the level before the pandemic, and Macau should grasp the opportunities in the process while taking citizens’ health and safety as its top priority.

Loi pointed out that Macau could accelerate the transformation of its economy, reinforce training to encourage economic diversification, and also increase urban resilience by enhancing city planning.

“COVID-19 is having a tremendous impact on the tourism industry globally, which certainly concerns every walk of life,” Loi said, adding, “Amid this challenging time, I think large enterprises shall connect with non-governmental institutions and organisations and together learn more about the situation of our community, which eventually would help the city to overcome this hardship.”

Staff member Lam Tai Hang from MGM’s Food and Beverage department said that Loi’s sharing has allowed staff members to reconsider ways to upgrade their services for better customer experiences and better prepare for the industry’s recovery. – mgmpr
