Central People’s Government Liaison Office Deputy Director Yao Jian and other senior officials from the office have met with Wynn’s management team and presented a donation certificate to Wynn as a token of recognition for its contributions to the nation and Macau during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The office is the central government’s top representative entity in Macau.

At the meeting, Yao, Chen Guokai and Zuo Xianghua, director-general and director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office  respectively, were welcomed by Wynn Macau Vice Chairman and Executive Director Linda Chen Chih-Ling and her management team.

Wynn previously donated 20 million patacas to support the Chinese mainland in combating the pandemic. Besides purchasing and donating 30,000 pieces of medical protective gear to Hubei province (worth 3.4 million patacas), Wynn also contributed HK$10 million to the donation account collected by the Liaison Office to assist in the follow-up work on the pandemic in Hubei.

Meanwhile, under the guidance and assistance of the Liaison Office, Wynn donated five state-of-the-art artificial heart-lung machines and multiple sets of medical supplies for adults and children (worth over 6.3 million patacas) to key hospitals in Hubei, such as Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, and Tongji Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, among others.

Wynn’s goal was to help medical institutions in various places rapidly improve the level of first aid available for critically ill patients through the donation of advanced high-end medical equipment of international standard, improve the treatment success rate for patients being severely impacted by the novel coronavirus, and further enhance the overall effectiveness of the treatment.

In doing so, the company aimed to provide effective support for subsequent COVID-19 prevention and control work.

On the local front, Wynn delivered meals to frontline medical staff at Kiang Wu Hospital in April, and the medical professionals from the hospital led a virus prevention and hygiene training session for Wynn staff members.

In support of Macau’s anti-pandemic work, Wynn purchased one million medical facemasks suitable for hospital use from suppliers around the world, which were donated to the Macau government.

In addition, the gaming operator ordered over two million pataca worth of hand sanitiser from local suppliers that were provided to Macau Chamber of Commerce (ACM) members and local companies, apart from donating electronic devices for online learning to organisations including Tung Sin Tong and the Salvation Army (Macau) Education Centre.

Wynn also donated five million patacas to support SMEs, social enterprises, social service organisations, and the underprivileged who have been most affected by the pandemic, and cooperated with local companies to support the production of locally designed reusable facemasks. – wmpr
