Galaxy donates 1 million masks to Macau, Zhuhai, Hengqin

Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) is donating one million facemasks to Macau, Zhuhai and Hengqin to support the three areas’ fight against COVID-19, the gaming operator said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U accepted the first batch of 250,000 masks on behalf of the Macau government yesterday, while the other batch of 250,000 masks will be donated later this week.

The statement said that the other 500,000 masks have already been donated to Zhuhai City and Hengqin New Area. Hengqin is one of Zhuhai’s four special economic districts.

Earlier this month, GEG made a 20-million-pataca donation to Hubei province and a 5-million-pataca donation to the Macau community, and as part of its local efforts, in addition to its subsidy scheme for young children by providing a one-off subsidy of 30,000 patacas to over 30 local schools and a one-off subsidy of 2,000 patacas to children enrolled i Macau’s 20 non-government subsidised nurseries.

According to the statement, GEG has also donated disinfection and hygiene products to the Women’s General Association of Macau (Fu Luen), General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (Kai Fong) and Fuhong Society of Macau, while prevention items such as surgical masks were delivered to 40 elderly users of the Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance Service before the Chinese New Year last month.
