The police arrested a local man on Saturday for raping his daughter at home, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a regular press conference yesterday.

According to Leng, the 33-year-old suspect is surnamed Hong. He told the police that he is unemployed. The victim is a 6-year-old schoolgirl.

The case was reported by the victim’s mother on Friday. Leng said the victim’s mother went to work at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and returned home at around 7:30 a.m. on Friday. After arriving home, her daughter told her that she felt pain when going to the toilet. Questioned by her mother, the victim said her father had raped her last night when she was sleeping.

Leng said the woman took her daughter to school and only reported the case to the police after the girl finished school on Friday afternoon.

Both went to a police station to report the case. The victim was later taken to a local hospital for a medical examination and treatment.

According to Leng, the victim did not remember the exact time of the rape. The medical examination revealed that the girl’s vulva was bleeding.

After realising that the rape had been reported to the police, Hong left Macau via the Barrier Gate checkpoint later that day.

Hong, the victim’s biological father, was arrested at around 11:40 a.m. on Saturday when he re-entered Macau through the same
checkpoint.

According to Leng, Hong admitted to committing the crime. He told the police that he had been drunk when he raped his daughter.

The police transferred the suspect to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) yesterday for further investigation. Hong faces possible arraignment on an aggravated charge of rape as the victim of which is under the age of 16.

According to Article 157 of the Macau Penal Code in conjunction with Clause 1 and Clause 4 of Article 171, rape is punishable by between three and 12 years’ imprisonment. The punishment is increased by onethird if the rape victim was younger than 16 at the time of the crime or if the victim is the suspect’s lineal descendant.
