A 44-year-old man is the latest person to be infected with rubella, and the total number of rubella patients this year has reached 20, the Health Bureau (SSM) statement said yesterday, and due to the seriousness of the highly contagious disease, the bureau is giving MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccines as a priority to those who are not immune to the disease and live with a pregnant woman.

According to the bureau, the man, who is a civil servant, was born on the mainland and does not know his vaccination record. The man had been to Zhuhai multiple times during the rubella incubation period, and the bureau is currently monitoring the health conditions of people the man had contact with during the time he was sick.

According to the statement, as six of the 20 rubella patients work at the City of Dreams casino-hotel in Cotai, the bureau will be at the hotel tomorrow to provide laboratory tests for pregnant women to check if they are immune to the disease.
