The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a non-resident worker from Thailand on Saturday night for attempting to rape a local woman in her car in Taipa in the early hours of Saturday after the victim went to her vehicle intending to drive to work, PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a special press conference yesterday.

Leng identified the suspect as a 23-year-old man surnamed Bunma who began to work in Macau in July last year for a local company as a marketing coordinator for the overseas market. The victim, who is in her thirties, works in a casino.

The crime happened in the area of Cheok Ka Village and Sam Ka Village. The area of the two adjacent villages, which is still largely undeveloped, is situated between the former campus of the University of Macau (UM) and the Lago public housing estate, Leng pointed out.

The attempted rape suspect from Thailand is escorted by Judiciary Police (PJ) officers from the PJ headquarters in Zape to a vehicle yesterday.
