A fire gutted a residential unit on the first floor in Ha Van district at around midday yesterday, which forced a day nursery below the flat on the ground floor of the building to evacuate 41 children and 16 staff members, according to the Fire Services Bureau (CB).

Ha Van is the Chinese name for the Praia do Manduco neighbourhood in the Inner Harbour area near Barra.

The day nursery, which also occupies the mezzanine floor, is one of the five day nurseries run by Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society.
