A total of 254 offences by taxi drivers were recorded from last Wednesday to Monday, the Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, 18.9 percent of the 254 cases were about cabbies refusing to pick up passengers, while 72 percent concerned overcharging, during the six-day period between the day before Chinese New Year Eve to the fourth day of the Chinese New Year.

The statement said that the remaining 23 cases concerned other regulatory breaches. It did not elaborate.
